Samuel L. Lucio NP-C
Sam, as he’s known to his friends, was born and raised in San Antonio Texas. Shortly after graduating from Luther Burbank HIgh School, he joined the United States Army. Once he completed his training at Ft Sam Houston as a medical laboratory specialist and joined the Medical Corps, he was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany. After his time in the service, Sam reflected on the unique teamwork found only in the medical field and decided to become a Registered Nurse. After graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center, he spent several years in the intensive care unit before pursuing his advanced degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. During his time as an FNP, he learned just how frustrating the healthcare industry can be for patients. While working at a local hospice company, Sam met Paul Silva MD. They shared a mutual frustration of the state of healthcare and decided they could make it better. Shortly thereafter, they formed Libertad Internal Medicine Group in an effort to be the change they wished to see in the industry.
